The Culpeper Language Learning Center is starting an Employee Spotlight, a new series which will feature the inside scoop on our amazing workers. This week, the spotlight is on Viet Dao, one of our new Technology and Language Specialists.
Viet is a multilingual sophomore who in addition to English also speaks Vietnamese which is his first language. Viet, however, is also working on becoming trilingual, by learning the French language on his own in his free time. Viet is not just interested in Language however, he also has a passion for technology. In fact, Viet plans to major in Computer Science while here at Gustavus. He says he does not have much free time, so usually his time is spent doing homework. Another fun fact about Viet is that he is ambidextrous!
At Culpeper Viet says that his favorite part of the job is the other Technology and Language Specialists and tutors that he works with. When he is not helping out other students in the center, he is a part of the Service and Outreach Team at Culpeper. A project that this team is currently working on is virtual language exchange opportunities for students and classes. Classes and/or individuals would be able to talk with native speakers of the language they are learning and gain perspective of the language’s use.
So come down to the Culpeper Language Learning Center in Vickner 108 and meet Viet and the rest of the Culpeper Crew!
